HYPE一天之内立场反转两次,杠杆结构有多脆弱?HYPE's Stance Flipped Twice in a Week — What That Says About Its Leverage

2026-10-20
HYPE's stance flipped from bullish to neutral in just one day — a sign of shaky leverage underneath

Here's a term worth knowing: open interest (OI) is the total value of leveraged bets still open in the market. OpenClue's system watches price moves alongside OI changes to figure out whether a rally or dip is backed by real money or just leverage games.

On October 16, HYPE bounced 4.8% while OI shrank. That pattern usually means short sellers were forced to buy back their positions (a "short squeeze") rather than fresh buyers stepping in — but at least no new leverage was piling up, so the system called it a healthy bounce and upgraded its stance from neutral to cautiously bullish.

Just one day later, on October 17, the picture flipped entirely. The bounce was fully given back, and this time OI rose even as price fell — a sign that new short positions were being opened. The system pulled the stance back down to neutral.

Zooming out, this isn't HYPE's first reversal. Back on September 24, sentiment had run hot (the fear and greed index spiked to 71 within a week) while price momentum was actually cooling — that mismatch triggered the system's first downgrade from bullish to cautiously bullish, a stance that held for nearly three weeks before this latest flip.

As of now, HYPE sits at $78.47, down 1.3% over 24 hours and 4.9% below its 7-day high. This one-day stance reversal isn't a directional prediction — it's an honest record of how unsettled the market's underlying positioning really was. One thing to remember: when price and open interest move together in either direction, it often means neither buyers nor sellers have real conviction, which limits how useful chasing the move actually is.
