STRK, the token behind Starknet, started climbing fast late Saturday and by Sunday had posted a 24-hour gain of 59.8%, trading at $0.1148 and briefly grabbing the #1 spot on CoinGecko's trending list (shown there at +58.2%).
It wasn't alone. ZK, the token for rival rollup (a Layer-2 scaling tech) project ZKsync, moved in near lockstep, up 14% over the same window. The broader rollup sector as a whole jumped more than 15% in a day — two tokens, very different magnitudes, but clearly riding the same wave.
Here's the catch: OpenClue's daily brief on October 11 flagged that there's no major fundamental news behind the move — no product launch, no partnership, no protocol upgrade announcement. The read: this looks like short-term narrative trading, where momentum and attention move first and the "story" catches up later, if at all.
Narrative-driven rallies without news tend to fade as fast as they appear, once the hot money moves on to the next story. Whether STRK and ZK can hold these gains — or give them back just as quickly — will depend on whether any real fundamentals show up in the coming days.
